The Deep Sea Dispatch - Monday Edition

"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me"
~Psalm 139:1
What a blessed day we had kicking off Vacation Bible School at Timothy Lutheran Ministries today!  We have so many exciting things to share with everyone about the day we spent together learning about how GOD KNOWS US.  The children used Genesis 6-9, and how God knew Noah's heart as a basis for discussion and activities to illustrate this truth.
We opened this morning with music from our own Cabin Fever Band and a greeting from Pastor Rod and Pastor Rich.  Of course, the duo wore their signature themed shirts and brand-new light-up shades for the day.   Be sure to ask your children what interesting things the pastors had on their shirts that will help them remember today's theme.  Our pastors come up with some engaging stuff you don't want to miss!

The opening also introduced new songs for 2016, as well as many of our traditional Timothy VBS favorites.  Miss Kaylee led a team of talented musicians and singers who spent time today helping groups learn the new songs and revisit old favorites, too!

In snack, Miss Harley and Miss Jessica's creative culinary team helped the classes build Noah's art treats:

Miss Viv's craft team assisted the children in making a beautiful picture frame for their favorite VBS memory:

Our storytelling troupe, has been hard at work rehearsing a dramatic interpretation of Noah that included... a robot?  Yes, it did!  You will definitely want to ask some questions about this unique story and be sure to ask your child to act out their favorite part!

Our missions collections began today with baking items for Hillcrest Transitional Housing--thank you for all the baking items that we were able to feed the whale in the narthex!  On Tuesday, our whale looks hungry for cleaning supplies...for a full list of missions items for the week, please see the Missions Link on this blog (on the bar at the top of this page).

Our monetary missions will be going to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City, in our continued commitment to partner for Christ in our local area.  Today the girls began their quest for the win with $2.10 and the boys left them swimming in circles with a whopping $18.12!  This big a gap doesn't typically last for long--stay tuned as the competition heats up!

In all this fun, you'd think you could expect what a younger boy might tell an adult was his favorite part of the day.  Yellow Seal, Logan,  joined us in registration this morning and told us his favorite part of VBS today was learning a Bible story with his class and it reminded him of his Bible storybook at home.  He recounted the details and the characters with ease.  Keep telling the stories, families, they are listening and as our friend, Logan, told us this morning, the Bible was his favorite part!  Well, said, Logan!  You make us smile!
A couple of announcements for Tuesday--
  • If you signed up your child at registration this morning while the computers went down (due to VBS registration overwhelming our website--which we consider a huge blessing!) Please check with your child's teacher to be sure if registration needs any additional information that may have glitched in our system.  Thank you for your understanding as we make sure we have your emergency information.
  • T-Shirts and CDs are still available at the yellow submarine for $5 each before and after VBS while supplies last!
  • It's not too late to bring a friend--you can send them the attached flyer--see the flyer link on this blog.
  • We are so blessed to welcome so many new families to VBS this year! We'd love to welcome your entire family to worship with us, as well!  Visit our website for  more information about worship, Bible study and fellowship opportunities.
Thank you for sharing your kids with us today in our Deep Sea Discovery!  Tomorrow, remind your little ones to bring their listening ears...  God has a message and they'll need them to receive it!

Blessings on your evening!

  1. What a blessing to meet all my new friends. I'm looking forward to day TWO when we go deeper into our discovery and learn that God HEARS us! Ahoy Mates.
